Located shores of the Río de la Plata, Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. It's a multicultural city with many ethnic and religious groups; its version of Spanish is colored by its Italian heritage.
The majority of citizens have European origins, mainly Italian, German and Spanish. Indigenous peoples are excluded as a lower class.
The La Boca district of Buenos Aires is the home of the Tango. The dance originated in lower-class districts of Buenos Aires. The music derived from the fusion of various forms of music from Europe. The word "tango" seems to have first been used in connection with the dance in the 1880s related to the African slave word "tango" (drum or dance place).
